FREE Vascular Health Check for MP

Brooks Newmark MP visited our Pharmacy earlier this year for a health check. NHS Health Check is a national initiative and aims to screen all individuals aged 40 – 74 years without existing vascular co-morbidity. Vascular disease currently affects the lives of over 4 million people in England. It causes 36% of deaths (170,000 a year in England) accounting for about 66,000 deaths each year in people aged under 75 and is responsible for a fifth of all hospital admissions. It is the largest single cause of long-term ill health and disability, impairing the quality of life for many people.

The Vascular Health Checks will consist of:

• A blood test for total cholesterol and high density lipoprotein.
• Lifestyle questions to patients on their health and diet, exercise habits and family medical history
• Height, weight measurements Blood pressure and pulse
• Personal assessment of the patient’s level of Cardiovascular disease risk and what they can do to reduce this risk.
